The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Court #2391, will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating junior high school student who is accepted and will attend a Catholic high school for the Fall semester 2008. A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduating senior who is accepted at an accredited college or university and will attend the Fall semester of 2008. Awardees will be picked from those applicants whose family is registered as a member of St. Ignatius, Martyr, parish.
An application form can be picked up in the Church Office, from the parish youth director or St. Ignatius school principal. Completed applications must be delivered to the Church Office no later than March 24, 2008.
Catholic Daughters is having an essay/poetry contest. The contest is open to all students' grades 4 thru 8. The theme of the contest is "Jesus the Light of the World" or "People who Light up my World". For entry forms, rules or more information call 447-6887. Deadline for entry is March 3rd.
FLOWER MEMORIALS: If you would like to remember a friend or loved one at Easter with a memorial gift of flowers, there are envelopes located in our display racks. "Print" the name of the person to be remembered on the envelope and return it, along with a donation, to the Church office or drop it in the regular donation basket. The names of those to be remembered will be published Easter Sunday. Memorials must be received no later than Monday, March 17th.
Attention IHN Volunteers: We will be hosting families who are homeless in the church Annex during the week of March 16. Volunteer sign-up for our next host week will be after all of the masses next weekend. We will need volunteers to bring supplies, items for the evening meal each night and to spend a few hours hosting the families. WELCOME COFFEE: We will have a complimentary Welcome Coffee in the Family Center after all the morning Masses on Sunday, February 24th. See you there. (Hosted by the Cub Scouts and sponsored by Pastoral Council.
Mike Garza and his family would like to express their deepest gratitude for all of the continued love and support from their church family at St. Ignatius, Martyr, Catholic Church. Special thanks to "The Knot" LifeTeen Praise Band under the leadership of Mary McClory for coordinating this event, the St. Ignatius' Knights of Columbus for their food donation, to the wonderful musical talent that performed and to our church families from St. Ignatius, St. Paul's and Our Lady of Guadalupe who attended the benefit and made it such a success. Mike is working toward his continued recovery and an eventual enrollment at ACC to get his formal education to work with children.
I HEART? MIKE GARZA, a fund raiser to financially assist Mike Garza and his family, was a complete success raising $5,240 for this wonderful cause. Thank you to everyone who attended and/or donated and special thanks goes out to the ministries and individuals who helped pull the whole thing together.
