You are invited to come and visit with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament from after the 12:05 PM Mass on Friday to the beginning of Mass on Saturday. Sign-up sheets are by each door. We need at least two people every hour.

AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's University Athletic Department has set the date for its annual NCAA Basketball take a Kid to the Game day for January 10, where they will host Newman in a doubleheader at the Recreation and Convocation Center. J.J. Jumper the official Basketball Mascot of the NCAA will also be in attendance for both games.

Area youth, 14 and under, are invited to attend this special event and receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket. Youth will have the opportunity to experience the college game-day atmosphere and some exciting action as they watch the Hilltoppers compete for a win over the Jets.

The women's game will start at 6 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 8 p.m.

St. Edward's is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation as part of the Take a Kid to the Game (TAKG) program in its 11th season. The project is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation's youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.

This Saturday, January 12, the local Knights of Columbus will hold a free throw contest. It will take place in the family center starting at 9:00 a.m. Girls and boys, ages 10 to 14 are eligible to enter. The top three shooters will advance to a diocesan wide competition. There is no need to register prior to Saturday, interested students just show up ready to shoot.

There will be a community meeting with the staff of the Office of the Police Monitor at St. Ignatius on Tuesday, January 15th, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the main body of the church. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the community to the services of the City of Austin Office of the Police Monitor (OPM). The Monitor's Office is a place, independent of the Austin Police Department (APD), where people can register a complaint about a police officer. The OPM is the only one of its kind with a functioning office in Texas, and is one of more than 100 police oversight offices in the United States. Their services are free and open to everyone. Please make plans to come and hear about this informative program. Spanish-translation services will be provided.

All are invited to come to a Mass of Thanksgiving to be celebrated on January 20, 2008 at 3 p.m. A reception will follow in the Family Center. Since you were not able to attend the celebration in Le Mans, France, Sean & Fr. Joe will present a slide show on the major events surrounding Moreau's beatification. After Mass and before the reception, we will bless Moreau Residence, the new priests' residence across from the church office.

The St. Ignatius LifeTeen Youth Praise Band will be hosting a concert benefiting Mike Garza and his family. It will be on Saturday, January 26, in the Family Center. Doors open to the sounds of Grace Pettis at 6p.m., Dave Thies at 7p.m., raffle at 8p.m. and Praise and Worship from 8:30 - 10p.m. Tickets are a suggested donation price of $5 each, T-Shirts are $10 and the Fajita dinner plate is $5 at the door. Tickets will be on sale at the Youth Office at St. Ignatius on Thursday and Friday from 4-7p.m. or e-mail to reserve: mrykaboom [at] gmail.com.

The Knights of Columbus Council 10131 will host their annual Casino Night on February 02, 2008. This fun event will take place at the Father Gene Dore Family center located on the grounds of St. Ignatius Martyr Parish. Funds raised will help council 10131 support their community, schools, seminarians, ministries through out the Diocese of Austin and St. Ignatius Martyr Parish.

Come to enjoy an evening of Games, Food, Drinks, Raffles every hour, and a chance at the Grand Prize Drawing of a Trip for Two to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Games will include Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and Poker. There will be hourly Raffles conducted. Your Ticket is your Drawing entry for the Grand Prize. Need not be present to win.

There will be Food available at 6:00 p.m. when the doors open and throughout the Event. Some snacks will also be at no charge. Child care will be available for an additional fee. Tickets for the event will cost $15.00 and Games begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. Distribution of Prizes and Drawing of the Grand Prize will then commence. Alcohol will be sold at this event so, please remember to bring proper identification. You must be 21 years of age to enter this event.
