Religious Education Program

Helps our parent educate the children of our parish in the Catholic faith and prepares these children to celebrate the Sacraments. Catechists (teachers and teacher aides) as well as support, office and security staff are always needed. Also offers a Vacation Bible School, a week-long summer camp for children entering grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. This is a shorter term of committment.

Requirements: A love of God; a love for children; a willingness to learn more about your faith and share it with our kids; complete the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity Workshop and agree to a background check.
Training: On-going training and support is provided.
Time Commitment: One hr/wk (Grades 1-5, Wed., 6-7 p.m.; Pre-K and Kinder, Sun., 11 a.m. – 12 pm).

Religious Education And Youth Ministry

Join us for the Parish Picnic at 2p.m. and an outdoor Mass at 5p.m.! And afterward, join us for more games and a sneak peak at our special summer session: Theology of the Body.

Youth Ministry Summer Schedule of Activities- The St. Ignatius Youth Ministry summer schedule is completed! Contact Rita in the youth office for activities and dates. Schedules will also be sent out to families registered in the St. Ignatius Youth Ministry Program. This year includes a return to Notre Dame for ND Visions for high school age students, the Middle School Discipleship Camp and more!

Mission Trip- St. Ignatius Youth Ministry will be sponsoring a Mission Trip for youth and their families to Mexico July 2nd-9th. Estimated cost: $120, plus passport expenses. Contact Rita to sign-up for the trip and learn more. Adult chaperones are needed too!

Religious Education and Youth Ministry News March 23

Vacation Bible School registration starts the first part of May 2008. V.B.S. date is June 16th -20th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Cost will be $30.00 per family.

No Life Night Easter Sunday. Spend time with your family, and spend some time in personal prayer reflecting on what Christ has done for you through His death and resurrection. And join us next Sunday, March 30th for our next Life Night from 6:30p.m.-8p.m. in the Family Center. Topic: Community Building and Empowerment- Sharing our concerns about our lives and our community and begin making that difference.

Confirmation Classes begin Wednesday, March 26th from 7p.m.-8:30p.m. in the Annex Chapel on Euclid Ave. Confirmation Handbooks were mailed two weeks ago to all families with youth registered to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation this year. Please remember the Confirmation Retreat is this weekend, Saturday, March 29th from 9a.m.-6p.m. If you have not received a Confirmation Handbook or have questions about Confirmation please contact Rita.

Religious Education and Youth Ministry News Feb. 24

Parents: March 5th will be a regular class; however we will have the Stations of the Cross in the church beginning at 6:45 p.m.

(High School)- Pray21 continues today. Join us at 6:30p.m. for snacks (Pray21 starts at 6:45p.m.) on Sunday, February 24th in the Family Center as we grow closer to God together through this intergenerational prayer during this special Lenten experience.

Presentation of the Lord's Passion- For the past several years, youth of St. Ignatius have presented through mime a performance of the Lord's Passion and Death on Good Friday. Any youth grades 8th thru 12th interested in participating, please contact Rita for details.

Edge (Middle School) - Join us this week, Tuesday, February 26th and Wednesday, February 27th from 6p.m.-7:30p.m. in the Annex. This week we'll meet St. Therese of Lisieux and examine her life of child-like faith and humility.

REP Parents: Ash Wednesday Services for February 6th will start at 6p.m. Meet in the church.

Pray21: "Don't just pray for me, pray WITH me." Pray21 is a 21-Day National Movement created for teens and adults to pray together to discover their calling, their vocation, from God. For 4 Sundays in a row, teens and adults from St. Ignatius will be paired up to pray together on Sunday evenings at 6:45pm-7:45pm. Pray21 will begin Feb 17. Adults and teens interested in signing up for this four week commitment, or for more information, please contact Rita Garcia, Director of Youth Ministry. Visit the web site at www.pray21.org.

It's almost DCYC time again! The Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference (DCYC) will be held January 18th-20th, 2008 in Waco, TX. Join St. Ignatius, Martyr Life Teen Youth, a couple thousand of your closest friends from around the Diocese of Austin and Bishop Aymond for the 50th Anniversary of DCYC! Prayer, music, workshops, crazy games, faith discussion and more. All youth 8th grade through 12th grade are invited to attend. Parents, you are invited to attend with us too! Cost is $75 and includes hotel, transportation and most meals.

Edge (Middle School Youth) - Join us on Tuesday, December 18th and Wednesday, December 19th from 6p.m.-7:30p.m. in the Annex Building for our next Edge Night, our annual Christmas Party. (High School Youth) Crazy Stories of the Bible: Do you know the Bible? Did you know Noah was 600 years old when he built the ark? Or that first bird he sent out in search of land was a raven? Or that the same Paul that wrote many of the books in the New Testament was named Saul and helped condemn Christians before he converted to Christianity? Come learn more about the Bible this Sunday, September 16th in the Family Center from 6:30p.m.-8p.m. (dinner starts at 6:10p.m. for those who are hungry).

High School youth, parents, and curious adults: not sure what a Life Night and Youth Ministry is about? Come check it out this Sunday, and consider volunteering your time and talents.

So join us for our weekly Life Night in the Family Center this Sunday, September 2nd at 6:30 p.m. (dinner starts at 6:10 p.m. for hungry high school youth).
