Today is Scout Sunday. The first Scout Sunday observance took place in 1914 in celebration of the birthday of scouting in the United States. Many churches organized Scout troops to give recognition to the values of Scouting as a resource for churches in their youth ministries.
Office volunteer needed: The Church Office is in need of a part time volunteer receptionist. Duties include; data entry, copying, typing, scheduling, assisting parish members and other duties as assigned. Please call Tony at the Church Office for further information.
Catholic Daughters is having an essay/poetry contest. The contest is open to all students' grades 4 thru 8. The theme of the contest is "Jesus the Light of the World" or "People who Light up my World". For entry forms, rules or more information call 447-6887. Deadline for entry is March 3rd.
Capital IDEA is a coalition of community based organizations and employers whose mission is to provide unemployed/underemployed Central Texas adults access to economically self- sufficient growth jobs through long term training and support services. We will host our first round of orientations for 2008 starting Monday, February 4, 2008. Orientations will continue through the rest of that week at locations around the city. Attendance at an orientation is the first step for someone interested in enrolling in Capital IDEA. To be eligible individuals must be: * At least 18 years of age * Eligible to work in the US * Residents of Central Texas that meet specific income guidelines. Project Andrew, a discussion about the priesthood, will be held February 9th at St. Mary Cathedral Parish in Austin. Young men (juniors in high school to age 45) are invited to join Bishop Gregory Aymond, priests and seminarians as they discuss the priesthood. Lunch will be provided.
