Parish Social Ministry: Introduction
Supports those individuals and groups involved in social ministry by helping them to work together in the following areas: Direct Social Service, Advocacy, Justice & Peace/Global Solidarity, Community Organizing/Community Empowerment, and Catholic Social Teaching Education/Formation.
Requirements: A commitment to the full scope of the Social Justice teachings of the Church; familiarity with the Bishops' document, "Communities of Salt and Light" and participate in the effort to support the implementation of the document within the parish; participate in prayerful reflection on the document with a member of the Parish Social Ministry Committee; a conversation with Fr. Joe for mutual discernment of a calling to be a member of the Parish Social Ministry Committee; be appointed to the committee by Fr. Joe.
Time Committment: Meet twice a month (1st and 3rd Tues.,7-9 pm).
