Family Affair Thank You
A BIG THANK YOU! While final income and expense numbers are still being tabulated and will be reported later, the Family Affair Executive Committee would like to thank all parishioners who helped and contributed in any way to our recent festival. The weather was beautiful, the crowd was huge, the food was good, and everyone appeared to have had a great time.
We had many individuals step forward to help.
- Thanks to those who sold tickets outside of the Church some Saturdays and Sundays the past couple of months.
- Thanks to those who stepped forward and served as Booth Chairs.
- Thanks to all of you who worked a 2 hour shift at one of the booths. Many of you worked several shifts or even the whole day.
- Thanks to all of you who donated auction items, plants, cokes, candy, stuffed animals and dolls, egg shells for confetti eggs, items for the Parcel Post booth, and cakes and pastries for the Cake Walk and Sweet Shop.
- Thanks to all of you who showed up Friday to help set-up tents, tables, chairs, booths, etc.
- Thanks to all of you who stayed after the Fair ended to clean-up and take every thing down.
It was great to see everyone come together, and we say a big THANK YOU to each of you.
Family Affair Next Saturday, October 20
FAMILY AFFAIR 2007 is finally here on this Saturday, October 20th. Here is how parishioners can help:
Throughout the week please continue to donate 2 liter bottles of coke, bags of wrapped candy, new or slightly used dolls and stuffed animals, plants for the Plant Booth, items in brown paper bags for the Parcel Post Booth, and gift certificates and merchandise items for the Live and Silent Auctions. These may all be brought to the Church Office.
The set-up of the booths and tents on the church grounds will begin at 9:00a.m. on Friday, October 19th. All individuals are encouraged to please stop by and help. Even an hour or two will make a big difference.
All parish families are asked to donate at least one cake for the Cake Walk and other pastries such as pies, cookies, cupcakes, etc. for the Sweet Shop. These items may be brought to the Family Center kitchen anytime during the day on Friday, or by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
If you have volunteered to work at a booth, please show up at this booth at your assigned time. If you have forgotten your booth or time, please stop by the Volunteer Table to obtain this information. If you would still like to volunteer and did not do so, please also stop by this table for possible open times. Read More »
Family Affair Only Two Weeks Away
FAMILY AFFAIR is just 2 weeks away. Here are some odds and ends regarding the Fair:
- We will be having both a Cake Walk booth and a Sweet Shop Booth. As a result, each parish family is requested to donate at least one item for each of these booths. All types of sweets and pastries are needed for the Sweet Shop-----brownies, sweet rolls, cup cakes, cookies, pies, etc. Cakes are of course needed for the Cake Walk. All items should be brought to the Family Center either Friday, 10/19, or early on Saturday, the day of the Fair.
- We will also again be having a cake decorating contest. Prizes will be awarded for the top three decorated cakes. These cakes will then later be auctioned in the Live Auction. All entries must be dropped off at the Family Center by 10 a.m. on Saturday, the day of the Fair. Please include your name and phone number so we can notify you if you are a winner.
- We promise some unique and different items for our auction this year. Plans are currently under way to have a couch worth $10,000, a used vehicle in good working condition, a dinner and pool party for several families, and a meal prepared by Father Joe. You will also be able to bid on your own personal reserved upfront church parking spot for a year and for a reserved pew for you and your family at the 5:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass and the Christmas Midnight Mass.
- The LAST day to order a 2007 Family Affair t-shirt is October 14. Remember, you can obtain a shirt only through pre-orders. There WILL NOT be any extra ones available to purchase on the day of the Fair.
- With just 2 weeks left, we need the following items: 2 liter bottles of soda, bags of wrapped candy, used egg shells for the confetti egg booth, items in brown paper bags for the Parcel Post Booth, and new or slightly used dolls or stuffed animals. To make it easier for you to donate these items, we will have a large box in the back of the church marked "For Family Affair". You may of course continue to drop off these donations at the church office if you prefer.
- We are still accepting donations for the Live and Silent Auctions. Remember to ask business with whom you do business for donations of merchandise items or gift certificates. All items should be brought to the Church Office and marked for the Family Affair auctions.
- Volunteer sign-up sheets are available on the Family Affair table on the east side of the church for 2 hour work shifts at the different booths. If you feel like making an extra special commitment, please consider signing up for one of the 4 booth chairman positions still open.
- Have you turned in cash for the raffle tickets and BBQ meal tickets that were sent to each parishioner in the mail? If you have not, please turn in the cash now at the Family Affair table and do not wait until the day of the Fair. You may also pick-up extra tickets to sell to your friends and neighbors.

Family Affair Update September 16
Family Affair 2007 is just 5 weeks away. We are in need of several booth chairpeople and booth shift workers. Sign-up sheets are at the Family Affair table on the east side of the Church. If you have not signed up to help, ask yourself, can I afford to give at least two hours back to my Parish? Remember what Father Joe said about stewardship these past few weeks.
Also, remember that the Family Affair t-shirts will ONLY be sold through pre-orders, so stop by the Family Affair table and order yours today. You may also pick up extra raffle tickets to sell, or turn in your money for tickets already sold. The Grand Prize is a cruise to Alaska. We guarantee that it will be cooler up there than it is here.
Start bringing 2 liter soda bottles, dolls and stuffed animals, parcel post gifts, and cartons of egg shells to the Church Office for the Family Affair. Please continue to ask merchants for gift certificates for the Silent Auction.
There are a number of ways to help with this event, but time is running out. DO IT NOW!

Family Affair Update: Pony Rides and Auctions
FAMILY AFFAIR 2007: Those of you who have attended our Family Affair in prior years will recall that one of the most popular events is the Pony Rides. Unfortunately, our usual source for the ponies is not available this year. As a result, we are looking for another source. If anyone has any possible other sources, please contact Tony Ross at the Church Office.
One of the most profitable events at the Family Affair is the Silent and Live Auctions. All items at these auctions are donated. This year, however, we are seriously behind on receiving donations for these events. Please check around your house to see if you have any items which you believe may be suitable which you are willing to donate. Also, please check with the merchants with whom you do business: restaurants, cleaners, florists, hair stylists, service stations, retail outlets, etc., and ask them for a gift certificate or a merchandise item. All donations should be marked for the Family Affair and left at the Church Office.
All monies for raffle tickets and BBQ meal tickets may be left at the Church Office or at the Family Affair table after Mass. Please stop at this table and pick-up extra raffle tickets to sell to your neighbors, friends and co-workers.
Don't forget to sign-up on the volunteer sign-up sheets at the back of the church. Read More »
