Christ Renews His Parish: More Details
- Women's Retreat (English): May 19-20
- Men's Retreat (English): June 2-3
The Uniqueness of CRHP
The uniqueness of the Christ Renews His Parish Renewal Program is its continuation. Participants are usually so inspired and moved, so renewed and uplifted, that they are anxious to share their faith and their experience with others in the Parish family.
Participants have the opportunity to begin planning the next men's or women's weekends soon after they complete their own. They become the new team. During this formation time, even greater spiritual growth occurs.
This weekend is an opportunity to deepen your relationship with Christ and to grow more in love with your brothers and sisters at St. Ignatius Martyr.
How to Participate
- See the sign-up table after mass.
- Pick up a registration form and return your completed form to the Parish office.
- Or contact the Parish Office or the contact persons listed on the CHRP registration form.
Tell me briefly, what is it?
Christ Renews His Parish is a program designed to bring members of the Parish together in Christ.
- It is a time to relax, pray, and rethink priorities.
- It is a time to get to know others in the parish and grow as a community.
- It is an opportunity to examine, rediscover, and /or intensify your personal relationship with Christ.
- It is a weekend of reflection and sharing of spiritual and real life issues.
What it is not.
- It is not a silent retreat, yet there are periods of quiet reflection and prayer.
- It is not a Parish organization or clique.
- It is not a public confession or an emotional cult.
What happens during the weekend?
The Retreat Weekend format involves short talks given by the CRHP team. You will be in small groups to reflect upon those talks and how they may be relevant to your life and spiritual growth.
Some examples of the talks: The Father's Loving Care, Scripture, Eucharist, Christian Community, and Christian Awareness.
You can expect an opportunity, in a relaxed atmosphere, to respond to Christ's call to a closer and deeper relationship to him.
Who conducts the "weekend"?
The weekend experience is presented by a team of participants from the previous CRHP Renewal Weekend.
How long will it last?
The weekend will begin at 7:30 AM on Saturday and will end by 4:00 PM on Sunday.
Who may participate?
Every member of St. Ignatius Martyr Parish age 19 and older is invited to attend. The Parish, of course, consists of all persons residing within the Parish boundaries and those who are registered in the Parish.
Men and women participate on different weekends.
How to I sign up?
You will be invited to become involved through announcements during worship services, in the weekend bulletins, and perhaps by a personal invitation from someone you know at St. Ignatius Martyr. It is up to you, as an individual, to make up your own mind. The program is not being sold, and you are not being pressured to go. Praying for guidance is important. If you feel that Christ, through the Holy Spirit or through a human mediator, is calling you ... come!
See the sign-up table after mass, or pick up a registration form and return your completed form to the Parish office.
What about Confession?
A Reconciliation Service will be held in the chapel. The service will conclude with Confession for those who desire this sacrament.
What about weekend Mass?
A special Eucharistic Celebration will be offered for those attending the weekend.
Where do participants sleep?
The sleeping accommodations at the "St. Ignatius Martyr Hilton" are unique. The décor is contemporary American classroom, rearranged to providing sleeping areas. (Yes, that means we sleep in the school.) We suggest bringing sleeping bags, mattresses and/or cots.
What about meals?
Hot meals will be served. We will also have regular breaks for coffee, soft drinks and snacks.
If you have special diet needs, please let us know.
What is the dress code?
Casual and comfortable clothing is the norm. "Sunday best" is not expected.
How much does it cost?
The CRHP Renewal Weekend is FREE! It is a gift from the Parish. No one in attendance is ever solicited for funds. You may, however, make private and/or anonymous donations should you be so inspired.
Insomnia-will I disturb others?
Don't worry! Remember, there is only one night's sleep. To minimize the problem, we retire late and rise early.
I don't like to get up and talk in front of people. Will I be required to? What about the next CRHP weekend?
No one is required to get up and speak. No pressure will be applied even if others do decide to speak. If you choose to be on a team, you still will not be required to speak publicly.
What about this "witnessing" business?
The talks are given by team members, not by participants. You may share in conversation or thoughts, as much or as little as you choose, in a small group with other participants.
I'm not sure I can take all this "faith sharing," "renewal," "Good News" and talk like that. I like things the way there were.
You sound as if you believe these concepts are new. Indeed, they are not. They are scripturally based and approved by the church. Don't worry about any preconceived reluctance to participate.
