Faith in Action through Stewardship
Dear Children of God,
As stated in the introduction to this booklet, we are committed to Stewardship as a way of life here at St Ignatius Martyr. What does it mean to call ourselves a Stewardship parish? It means we understand that part of our call to be Disciples of Christ involves building the kingdom of God here on earth — a kingdom of justice, compassion, love and peace. This mission was passed on to us from Jesus. To fulfill this mission requires that first, each of us become aware of the talents and gifts God has given to us.
As a Stewardship parish we understand that the Gospel calls us to be good stewards of all that God has given to us. We are called to express our gratitude to God by giving back to God a portion of what God has given to us. Each of us has unique talents and gifts and as good stewards all parishioners are called to use their unique gifts in some form or fashion in the total life of the parish. The more involved we are in the parish the more we feel we belong. And the more we feel we belong the easier it is to form community.
In this section you will find an incredible array of ministries and opportunities for service. Assuredly, there is something for everyone, from assisting with worship, teaching the faith to our children, caring for our physical campus, helping others to cope with loss and grief, reaching out to the less fortunate in our community, to joining small communities of faith in our parish.
As with everything, start with prayer. Ask God to show you how you can grow in your faith through sharing your time, talent, and treasure with the wider community. Then look through this booklet and see which of your gifts correspond to the ministries listed here. Finally, please complete the commitment card and return it to the parish office. We will let you know as soon as possible about your participation in a particular ministry. I also would invite you to the yearly Ministry Fair to visit the various ministry booths, talk with the ministers of that ministry and find out if that particular ministry fits you.
Thank you for joining us in both worship and action. Together we are responding to Christ’s call: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt. 28:19)
In Christ,
Fr. Bill Wack, C.S.C.
